Meets Our Vets

Locally Owned

Firehall 4 is owned and run by our own veterinarians, Dr. Jennifer Peterson and Dr. Kelly Laas. There’s no corporate office making decisions about your pet’s care. Our doctors are part of this community, and you’ll find us supporting local rescues, visiting schools, and partnering with UGA.

A Hospital With History

We care for Athens pets inside the original Fire Station 4, which first opened in 1965. Our hospital opened its doors here in 2004, and we’re proud to keep this landmark serving the community in a new way.

Held to a Higher Standard

Firehall 4 is AAHA accredited and Fear Free certified. AAHA accreditation means our hospital is regularly evaluated against the highest standards in veterinary medicine, and our Fear Free training helps us keep every visit as calm and comfortable as possible for your pet.

Fear Free Certified

Certified in low-stress handling techniques to ensure a positive, comfortable, anxiety-free experience for pets.

AAHA Accredited

Meeting the highest standards in veterinary care, safety, and clinical excellence for every patient.

Recognized Nationally

Newsweek named Firehall 4 one of America’s Best Animal Hospitals for 2026. It’s an honor we share with our whole team and the families who trust us every day.

Surgery With a Watchful Eye

Every patient under anesthesia has a dedicated veterinary assistant monitoring them from start to finish. It’s one more way we make sure your pet is safe and cared for during surgery.

Imaging and Urgent Care

Our imaging is led by board-certified radiologist Dr. Cody Laas, DVM, Diplomate ACVR. If your pet is sick or injured during business hours, call us and we’ll help. After hours, we refer emergencies to the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

Ready to Meet Us?
