Dental Care

Healthy smiles, healthy pets.

A healthy mouth makes a healthier and happier pet! Dogs and cats can experience the same kind of oral pain and discomfort that we do; however, they aren’t able to communicate this to us.

At Firehall 4 Animal Hospital, our veterinarians and technicians offer excellent dentistry services as well as education to our clients on how to provide the best at-home care. We offer quality dental services including complete oral health assessments, soft tissue examinations, dental cleanings with full mouth radiographs, periodontal therapy and surgery, follow-up assessments to ensure proper healing, and at-home care education.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Here at Firehall 4 Animal Hospital, we so strongly believe in good oral hygiene that we offer free dental consultations for our patients. All dental cleanings include tooth-by-tooth assessment, digital dental radiographs, and a dedicated veterinary technician monitoring anesthesia. We also have the ability and experience to perform irrigation, extractions, and biopsies. We are advocates of pain management and offer nerve blocks, pain medication, and laser therapy to keep our patients comfortable.

We want to work with our clients to create a personalized dental health care program that works for you and your pet. Good dental health includes regular oral exams, at-home care, and dental cleanings to remove tartar accumulation and identify any periodontal disease or broken teeth that need treatment. Signs to look for in your dog or cat that can indicate oral pain at home include heavy tartar accumulation, bad breath, swollen gums, dropping food out of one side of their mouth, facial rubbing, decreased appetite, growling, and lethargy. Dental radiographs are performed on every dental cleaning to evaluate for problems within the tooth, under the gumline, or inside the jaw – this ensures that we do not miss any problems that aren’t visible on an oral examination.

X-RAYS

Evidence shows that dental x-rays give us the ability to diagnose disease below the gumline, which would be impossible to see otherwise. This allows us to treat pain that we wouldn’t have known existed. We take dental x-rays with each examination so that we can look for these sources of pain and eliminate them before they cause a bigger problem. After the dental procedure we are happy to show you your pet’s radiographs along with pre and post dental pictures of your pet’s teeth so you can see the value in investing in your pet’s dental health!
